If you enjoy characters unrealistically singing songs about how they're feeling in the moment, you probably love musicals and have for a long time, if not I'm very sorry for this not-so-personalized piece of content.
1. War Paint
This musical centers on two women who "took control" of the cosmetic industry and broke glass ceilings for women with careers in these industries. Starring amazing actresses Patti Lupone and Christine Ebersole.
This show is focused on two women accused of murder, one being a noted performer, while the other dreams to perform. Through their time in jail they both compete in how many people they can dazzle before they loose it all.
This recent revival is based around Marvin and his family and although this Jewish family seems as though their story might seems calm it takes many turns for the worst with the overall message being that love comes in many forms.
This underground musical is all about Bug, a (well) bug who's dreams is to protect the galaxy alongside humans. A seemingly simple request only the queen of the hive hates humans and humans hate bugs. The show is great for most ages being that they have very limited crude humor/references.
5. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
This musical from your childhood centered around the poor boy Charlie who only wishes to experience the mysteries within this abandoned factory, and Willy Wonka who is looking for a child that has the same passion and creativity he did when he was young.
